Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez were defending champions. However, they lost in the second round to Russian pair of Anna Chakvetadze and Elena Vesnina.
American Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur of Australia won the title, defeating Daniela Hantuchová and Ai Sugiyama in the final in straight sets. With the victory, Raymond completed the career Grand Slam, having won the Australian Open in 2000 and Wimbledon & the US Open in 2001.
